Chief Solomon Lar, the pioneer National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Plateau State, died as a poor man and only left me with the message of keeping Nigeria as one, his wife, Professor Mary Lar, has said. She made the statement recently during an interview with our correspondent in Jos, recounting the life of her husband after five years since he died. Baba died helping others and did not acquire wealth for himself. He left a legacy of a philanthropist, living his life for others and has little or nothing for himself; I am not even sure he has up to N1 million in his account before he died. At the hospital bed, his doctor told us to ask baba to give us his last words and all baba could say is going and my country men to unite themselves and live as one entity”, she said. She said that she had always asked the late politician why he did not amass wealth and build houses like other politicians but that the reply she got from him was on how he wa…

"If Anything Happens To Dino Melaye" – Dogara Warns Police

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has urged the police to prioritize the health and safety of Sen. Dino Melaye before prosecution.

Dogara made the call at the plenary on Thursday in Abuja after a personal explanation was raised by Rep. Sunday Karimi (Kogi-PDP) drawing the attention of the House to Dino’s plight.

The senator is currently facing a seven-count charge of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms in Kogi State.

The helmsman of the green chambers, however, said that anyone who committed any offence must face the law.

The speaker said he had not seen any country where anybody had been arraigned in court on stretchers.

“I have not seen in any country where someone is arraigned in court on stretchers when he or she is not fit to plead guilty or not guilty.

“If anything happens to him, (Dino) the responsibility will be on the security agency,” he said.

Earlier, speaking under personal explanation, Karimi said in the process of arresti…
