18-year-old Student Invents ‘ElectroShoe’ That Lets Women Electrocute Rapists

Sexual assault against women is a really big problem, as hardly a day goes by without a case being reported in the media. An 18-year-old teenage boy is trying to help women fight back against aggressors by literally giving them the shock of their life.
After witnessing multiple instances of disturbing and life-changing acts of violence against women, as well as attending many protests with his mother demanding change, Siddharth Mandala, a student from Telengana, India decided he needed to do something himself.
He spent years working on the “ElectroShoe”, a unique type of anti-sexual assault footwear that electrocutes attackers by inflicting 0.1 Ampere of electricity while also alerting police and family members that the wearer is in danger. All the wearer has to do is kick the perpetrator.
“I invented a patent-pending device called ElectroShoe. It can electrocute the perpetrator instantly by inflicting 0.1 Ampere of electricity, while sending an alert for assistance to cops and famil…

WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CHILD MARRIAGE AND FGM?

Both child marriage and FGM/C are driven by gender inequality and social expectations of what it means to be a girl. They are patriarchal means of controlling girls’ sexuality often linked to cultural, religious or traditional social norms.

Neither practice protects girls . Some parents and communities believe child marriage and FGM/C to be a way of protecting girls from pre-marital sex and secure a safer future for their daughters. In reality they are both violations of girls’ rights which have devastating consequences for their health, education and safety.

Both child marriage and FGM/C make girls more likely to drop out of school, and face violence, health problems, and experience complications during pregnancy.

Neither practice is endorsed by religion yet many communities interpret their faith differently and use these practices as marker of their religious identity. Getting religious leaders on board to debunk this myth is an important part of changing social norms.

When were you born?

I was born on August 8, 1942 and last month, we marked the day in celebration of my 75th birthday.

How did you know you were born on that day?

There was a record indicating when I was born. My parents showed it to me. I am 75 years old this year and I have never marked my birthday. But God said I shouldn’t say I wouldn’t hold a thanksgiving to appreciate Him as I turned 75. That is the reason we are holding a week-long event from November 27 to December 3, 2017 to appreciate the goodness of God in my life. I am also expecting our leaders in government to join us in praising God that day. We are committed to praying for the country and its leaders. They should pay back now by thanking God with me. It is my turn now.

Tell us the story of your childhood.

I am from a humble background with no help from anybody to …

Brief introduction :Principles of “Do No Harm” in the Context of FGM/C

Brief introduction :Principles of “Do No Harm” in the Context of FM/C •“FGM/C is a sensitive, taboo and sometimes highly political and perceived religious issue that goes to the heart of gender identity and gender relations. Insensitive approaches and implementation could risk driving the practice underground, undermining existing efforts to end the practice, contributing to a backlash, adding to other political/conflict tensions, etc.”
•‘Do No Harm’ (DNH) is an ethical principle underpinning much research and health and social programming. It means that those undertaking research and/or intervention should not, intentionally or otherwise, cause harm. There is a risk of social change interventions inadvertently creating societal divisions, particularly in contexts of conflict and fragility. Negative effects are often unforeseen and unintended.
1.Simplistic media exposé of FGM/C, which is sensational and demeaning to girls and women who have undergone FGM/C (e.g. focus on graphic images o…

Congratulations : TSTV Takes Center Stage On 1st October, Offer Pay-As-Go Subscription

No wonder DSTV came up with a pay as you go idea just three or four days ago which haven’t been implimented anyway. They are seriously in trouble because
indigenous company is about the blow their business away. TSTV is the latest in town guys and they are set to launch on 1st October, 2017 which is Nigeria Independence Day..lol, Coincidence? Not at all.
Unlike DSTV that is a purely satellite TV provider, TSTV is HBB technology that combines both satellite and internet service for TV services. Also TSTV services will be mainly on Pay As You Go basis, thereby offering subscribers loads of their favourite TV channels at cheapest rate, and which by the time it launches, it will be creating serious competition between them and DSTV.
